The end of 219
Tomorrow I move out of this apartment after 21 months, plus a year downstairs before that. It was a nice piece of timing that a place came vacant across town -- about three blocks from both of my part-time jobs. It's a lower 4 1/2 with yard, within view of the river... pretty much everything I could need or want right now. But of course, what I've been hankering for most of all is some peace and quiet. I hope to find both there, although I know perfection is not of this world.
In the end, no matter what, it could never be worse than here. Impossible. Nor will I ever put up and shut up as I've done all this time for the sake of avoiding confrontation with neighbours. It will be the second biggest relief of my life to leave these people behind. I hope the new tenant (who is friendly with them all) knows what she's in for. She works nights... if she thinks she'll get a quiet day's sleep, she's in for a surprise!
See ya'll on the other side of the North River! Photos will follow!
