The element of surprise

I had a ride into Montreal last night and dropped into Taco Bell, unannounced. The look on my son's face was priceless - a fleeting few seconds of recognition, disbelief, and amazement. "What are YOU doing here?" he asked, and we hugged hard.

I handed him an industrial-sized bag of white sports socks (20 pairs for $9.88 - gotta love Walmart) and T-shirts, and his co-workers giggled at the mammoth package of socks.

Classy joint, that Taco Bell. The floor desperately needed sweeping and one employee was deep-tonguing a wangsta-type right inside the front entrance.

If I'd had my cane, I surely would have shaken it at them.

I've been to that Taco Bell! There's only one on the island. I even posted about it. The next closest one is near Ottawa.

Yep, Gouin & des Sources. Didn't know it was the only one around. Seedy part of town; I worry about A. walking home from work at night.
